Pineapple Poker It’s no secret that Poker and Texas Holdem are the two most popular games in the world, but pineapple poker, as the name suggests, is a variation of Holdem that is distinct to Pineapple and Honeyspot.

Pineapple Poker

Pineapple poker was traditionally played with small, single-inent Pineapple decks, which were, at one point, sold in old-age book stores. Today, you can find Pineapple Poker everywhere; even in the grocery store!

This pineapple-based poker variation is also often known by its street number, commonly referred to as “peach picker” cards. Aces and Kings were originally marked with a chip facing upward, and the Ace was marked with a cherry. During the period of the early 1900s, a Chicago gambler, Mr. Charles Fey, devised a method of paying out peaches that was decidedly Sherman-like: players would select a moving target, usually a moving target on the range, and if they drove the nail into the designated target’s back, they would win substantial fruity drinks. This, of course, was a disguise, as Fey was really just a guy who was in love with particular types of okra (sesame seeds), and driving the nail into the back of the target allowed him to collect all the ripe seeds from the target’s body.

Despite this fact, the Cherry Picker remains a popular though now almost forgotten diversion; as a matter of fact, it is quite difficult to find a live game even in larger urban casinos in places like Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Omaha, Omaha being the place where the game probably originated.

The reason that the game traveled to Las Vegas and is now popular is that it was an improvement on a standard poker game. At that time, the “Chips” were smaller and more easily damaged, so a dealer had to spin them bigger balls to get them to land on the bingo or hardway numbers; these balls also had to be reset each spin, and the result was that a game could last for hours. This is when the “Chips” were improved with metal frames and a larger number of slots. The “Chips” became popular in racetracks that existed ininner cities, but became an instant hit in the Vegas casinos.

During the “Chips” craze, a company discovered that they had innovative names for their sets of Clay Poker Chips: “Stars,” “Gem,” “Corsairs,” and “Broncos.” When they released a new chip design, instead of just a repeating machine sound, they used an electronic chip to create the same “click” effect that a slot machine would produce. To the casino floor music lovers, that was music to the ears!

With the large popularity of the “Chips” and other electronic gaming devices during the 1970s and 80s, Atlantic City’s gambling entrepreneurs, (many of whom were prompted by the inevitable loss of revenues brought on by the city’s growing casino business), decided to create a new denomination: coin sizes.

The standard coin size of the day was then .25 cents, and a “half dollar” was born. Although the half dollar was never a large denomination, it was an important stepping stone, as it proved to be the basis for the modern half dollar coin.

In 1988, the year that the modern era of coin sizes began, the quarter denomination was born. It was also the year that the first color-changing machines were introduced into the casino floors. Since then, color changes have been pretty much a standard affair that no longer separate the caller from the payout.

In 2000, a revolution began that would see the introduction of electronic gaming devices onto casino floors throughout the world. Soon, players were being treated to new games featuring everything from video poker to roulette, slots, video keno, and craps. Today, casino operators are Rex Train, Inc., electronic gaming devices.

On the heels of these wonders of technology is Microgaming’s latest creation, the scrolling roulette wheel, multi-denomination slot machines, blackjack, and video poker networks. At a time when casinos are under incredible pressure to add new games to their roster, Microgaming continues to innovate. It even spawned the landscape with the Doubleshock video poker machine.

Eventually, the arrival of downloadable and flash casino games altered the landscape of casino gaming. Live Dealer Casinos were established and casinos began opening up anywhere and everywhere. While this is very much the case, we are now at a point in time where mobile casino games are available on many cellular phones. This is a far cry from the days of brick and mortar casinos being Underivable.

Regardless of all of this, traditional brick and mortar casinos are still plentiful and still very profitable.Pineapple Poker
